What We Do!
(Contributed by Ladies Auxiliary member

T
he Ladies Auxiliary Charter was signed on June 24, 1948.
· Year 2000 began with 34 members, 3 Voting Affiliate and 10 Life members.
· We raise funds by catering and also by the sale of 'pull tickets' at the regular Monday night Bingo held by the Branch.
· We donate to Command, local charities, Red Deer Women's Shelter, Diabetes Association, Cancer Society, Heart Fund, Lung Association and others.
· We give 2 bursaries yearly to Grade 12 students who are furthering their education.
In our local community, we host birthday parties for patients in the Nursing Home section of the Health Care Centre.
· In the fall the ladies put on an afternoon of Bingo with small surprise gifts as prizes for the residents at the Senior Citizen's Lodge.
· We also have a Bingo and a light tea four times a year.
We have a small choir and at Christmas we enjoy singing carols at the Nursing Home and the Lodge.
· Our Auxiliary has a committee who makes regular visitations to the hospital.
· In appreciation of our membership we get together in October and enjoy a dinner evening, as in a family. This is the time of year when our District Commander is invited and presents years-of-service pins and Life memberships, etc. We also make a practice of sending our members birthday cards just to keep in touch with those who are not so active any more.
· After our regular December meeting we have a light lunch and gift exchange.
· Our membership is growing slowly and we are encouraging friends to make it a project for the coming years to join us.

We remember their courage and devotion to the Sovereign and the country they served.
We pray that their labours be not in vain but that their spirit may live on in us and the generations to come.
We pray that liberty, truth and love may spread over all the world 'til war shall cease to be.
We remember our brethren who are in sickness
